June 24, 2026 – From protein bars to instant ramen, chicken nuggets, and some sliced breads, the wide range of foods that fall into the “ultra-processed” category can make them difficult to entirely eliminate from the diet. “Our findings suggest that nutritional quality alone does not fully account for the associations between ultra-processed foods and adverse health outcomes,” says Juna S.
