ON THE WRONG TRACK –
Sept. 27, 2022 – Prosecuting the case, Sam Castlehouse described how on March 3 police were called following reports of Hart attending Camborne Wetherspoon in breach of her criminal behaviour order.
She left and then returned for a second time before departing again and heading to the town’s railway station. There was nobody around and Hart got onto the track as a train approached from the Penzance direction. The train driver had to apply an emergency brake causing him and passengers to be jolted in their seats.
The driver was able to stop metres from Hart and she then tried to open the doors and get on the train shouting she wanted to go to St Austell. Hart then put her head between the platform gap and the carriage preventing the train from moving before getting back on the track and turning her back to the train.
When officers arrived she was noted to be unsteady on her feet with glazed eyes. In total her actions caused two trains to be cancelled and one delayed at a cost of more than £900. While interviewed it became apparent Hart was responsible for two thefts from Tesco in St Austell to the value of more than £70.
