He said he hopes The documentary tells the stories of individuals across the country who recovered from addiction and decided to share their journeys. Shulman saw this moment, and a month later, he flew to Poch’s home to talk to him, his family and members of his former treatment team at Laguna Treatment Center in Orange County, Calif., he said.
“I’m bonded for life with everybody that I interviewed for this movie,” Shulman said. “They bared their souls for me in a way I can’t describe or can’t explain how or why they did it.”
Shulman interviewed people across the country, including four incarcerated individuals at Chesterfield County Jail in Virginia who participated in an addiction recovery program there.
