Jersey Addiction Corruption –
August 31, 2018 – In the tort, filed by attorney Russell L. Lichtenstein, Paulhus claims he learned from an assistant prosecutor that John Brogan, an addiction recovery specialist, allegedly extorted parents of young addicts, that one of his assistants arranged for a woman to obtain drugs so that she would qualify for rehab and that he sent people on probation out of state for rehab treatment in violation of court orders. Brogan is CEO and chief recovery specialist with Lifeline Recovery Support Services in Toms River. Reached for comment Friday, Brogan called the allegations “completely false,” but declined to comment further until he had time to discuss the matter with his attorney. Paulhus, a 25-year veteran of the prosecutor’s office who was responsible for internal affairs and public corruption matters, claims Coronato and Brogan have a very close and public relationship because of Brogan’s work in addiction treatment, even though Brogan was convicted of a third-degree theft by deception charge in Ocean County Superior Court in 2010.
