PROFILE
Brandon Welsh was born in 1987 in Redwood City, CA the halfway point between Silicon Valley and the City of San Francisco. Brandon offers a vast skill-set applicable in business, however he is much more than just his professional capability. He is a humble, inspiring, driven and admirable individual as his personal background dealing with substance abuse, chemical dependency, addiction and professional services for substance abuse treatment is what led him to start Recovhub. He noticed how difficult it was for individuals to find and obtain professional services for substance abuse treatment and how outdate the business aspect was in a $35 Billion dollar a year industry. Brandon has now founded Recovhub which is a nationwide database and listing directory of treatment facilities, all within a single source allowing direct connection to each provider of services that an individual chooses.

1. If you are in recovery, what was your DOC and when did you discontinue its use?
August 20th 2015 is when I got clean from oxycontin, fentanyl, heroin and any other opiates I could get my hands on.
2. At which of the schools you attended did you learn the most?
I attended foothill college in Los Altos Hills, CA which is where I discovered my entrepreneurial spirit and love for business.
3. Do you believe leaders are made or born?
I believe leaders are born with the gift to lead, even though I’ve found for myself that most leaders I know tend to do their own thing and not that of the masses.
4. What is your most profound unfulfilled dream?
My most profound and unfulfilled dream has been to zipline through the rain forests of South America.
5. Which film have you watched the most?
The film I can’t ever get enough of is “Good Will Hunting”
6. Who is your favorite celebrity in recovery?
I have to say James Macklemore, his passion and the emphasis in his lyrical thought process evoke strength and determination to me.
7. If you ever retire, would you prefer to live by the ocean, lake, river, or mountaintop, or penthouse?
I know I’ll never retire, I always feel the need to do, contribute, go, give, build, develop and grow. I definitely could envision myself having a home on the beach in Santa Barbara or Santa Cruz.
8. What is your favorite hotel or resort?
My favorite Hotel would be the Halfmoon Bay “Ritz Carlton” and not because it’s the Ritz Carlton but the scenery, peacefulness and endless views of the ocean overlooking the golf course is breathtaking to me.
9. Where did you go on your honeymoon?
I’ve never been on a honeymoon but I wouldn’t mind going with Elon Musk to the moon one of these days!
10. What is your biggest or littlest pet peeve?
My biggest pet peeve is when I’m walking with a friend or colleague, whomever it may be and they end up walking in front of me.
11. How do you measure success?
Success to me is being able to look back at a life that was full of wreckage, hurt and pain while realizing the life I live today is far from that and a life of happiness, contentment and fulfillment.
12. If you had an extra million dollars, which charity would you donate it to?
I would donate it to any charity that helps individuals currently incarcerated due to their drug addiction and fights to get them out of jail and into an addiction treatment program.
13. Who was your biggest influence throughout your life?
My mom was my hero and is the one individual who has had the biggest influence on me, allowing me to become who I am today. My mom was a single mother who played the role of both mom and dad while working a full time job and doing the best to raise me. My mom influenced my values, my morals and ability to give back to others.
14. What is your current hobby?
Learning how to read and write code for software applications. I find it very similar to a contractor building a house and having to read and understand architectural drafts of what’s to be built before the contractor can set off to build it.
15. What prominent fe/male figure would you most like to date?
At the moment I’m enjoying being single, I’m focusing on me and growing as an individual in my personal and professional life.
16. What is your FAVORITE Broadway musical/play?
My favorite play on Broadway has always been Phantom of the Opera.
17. What is your FAVORITE City?
San Francisco, it’s home away from home. Even though I grew up in the Bay Area, I have yet to find anywhere like San Francisco. To me SF is a mystical and mysterious city but exudes a sense of community, pride and innovation.
18. Do you take work home with you?
Work goes everywhere I go, it’s on my phone and constantly running through my mind however I love what I do so therefor it never seems as I’m working.
19. What’s the greatest risk you’ve ever taken?
The greatest risk I ever took was when I looked up at the judge of San Mateo County and said I would go to treatment instead of choosing to remain in jail. To most I assume this wouldn’t be considered a risk, but to me I knew that if I wasn’t done using drugs and I chose treatment just to get out of jail that I would end up violating and running away with the potential to ultimately end up in jail longer than I was originally intended.
20. Is there a favorite “Quote” you would like to share?
I don’t know if this quote is famous but it’s a quote I love. “the one thing in life that will never change, is change itself.”
