“I was also inspired to start making my own music by becoming a close friend of Elton’s original and current drummer, Nigel Olsson.
“As it’s Elton’s last ever tour this year, I’m marking the occasion by touring every single state in the US, playing covers of his songs.”
Tom said learning about Elton’s own battles with addiction was an inspiration for his own journey and to realise you don’t have to drink to have a good time.
He said: “Elton is a figure of inspiration, the sobriety he’s maintained for three decades while still being a larger-than-life character is incredible.
“He’s stopped drinking and drugs and got his life together without sacrificing his sense of fun.
