Barbara Nicholson Brown

Barbara Nicholson Brown is publisher of Together AZ newspaper in Scottsdale AZ. Together AZ is a valuable source of information online and in print for anyone to access for a better way of life. The mission is to help as many people as possible recover from substance abuse addiction and other behavioral health issues. She is also involved with CARE (Celebrate the Art of Recovery Expo) held during National Recovery Month. Celebrate the Art of Recovery Expo (CARE) is a one-day event hosted by Community Bridges, Inc. (CBI) for those struggling with addiction and behavioral health issues and their families, friends and community members. Meet leading industry professionals to learn about awareness, family recovery and prevention, attend workshops, get resources and talk about solutions. Our event this year is September 26, 2020.

She is 29 years clean and sober. Sober date June 17, 1990

Q. If you are in recovery, what was your DOC and when did you discontinue its use?
A. Alcohol was always at the top of my list.

A. Casablanca

A. Though we lost him too soon it is Christopher Kennedy Lawford

Q. If you ever retire, would you prefer to live by the ocean, lake, river, or mountaintop, or penthouse?
A. A penthouse on the ocean!

A. Northern Arizona

Q. What is your biggest or littlest pet peeve?
A. Not remembering where I put things

Q. If you had an extra million dollars, which charity would you donate it to?
A. To alcohol and drug treatment facilities that help women/ and young adults, adolescents.

A. Playing golf

A. I believe addiction is a disease.

Q. What is the proudest moment in your life?
A. In my darkest moment, admitting out loud to a trusted friend I was alcoholic and needed help. Then the journey began.
