AUDIO – SICK COLLABORATION –

April 9, 2026 – Police Chief John Berger is being sued along with DreamLife Recovery LLC drug rehab facility for Berger’s alleged sexual assault of a female patient … The 12-count lawsuit came less than three weeks after Berger’s preliminary hearing for an unrelated case where prosecutors argue he accepted pills from alleged cocaine and a marijuana dealer. Berger was fired following a raid by the Department of Homeland Security in a unanimous vote by the Ligonier Valley Police Commission on May 9, 2023. He became a patient at DreamLife where he met the woman he allegedly sexually assaulted, referred to as Jane Doe in the filing.

The lawsuit alleges Berger made repeated unwanted sexual advances toward Doe, culminating in an April 2024 sexual assault. Berger is separately facing criminal charges for the alleged sexual assault, with a trial set for June 1.

Doe testified against Berger in a July 12, 2024, preliminary hearing for the criminal case.

Doe was in treatment from March through June 2023, lawyers said. She was 25 years old at the time of the alleged assault. She came to DreamLife for a drug and alcohol detox, court filings said.
