Jan. 12, 2024 –  For McDaniel, the peak moment was confessing to his wife, Katie about the alcohol addiction.

“Telling [my wife] really undercut all of her investment into me, and was leaving our family vulnerable,” shared McDaniel, expressing the profound impact of his admission on his family.

 In the latest episode of HBO”s Hard Knocks, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel bravely shares his personal struggle with alcoholism during his tenure as the Offensive Assistant with the Atlanta Falcons from 2015 to 2016.

McDaniel candidly admitted, “After year one, people on the coaching staff identified that I was drinking too often, and I admittedly say I agree.”

On January 4, 2016, a pivotal moment occurred when ex-Falcons head coach Dan Quinn, ex-offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, and ex-assistant head coach Raheem Morris individually confronted McDaniel about his alcohol consumption.
