He started the program roughly two decades ago and now hosts more than 80 residents at a time.
“When I was released from prison the third time, I actually never expected that I was going to stay out,” Hanneken said.
Hanneken said addiction is a common driver of criminal behavior in Missouri. He described the program’s approach as a long-term commitment to the people it serves.
