ADDICTIVE ELIXIR –
August 4, 2025 – Feel Free is being marketed for adults as an alternative to alcohol. The beverage’s two main ingredients are kava root and kratom. Botanic Tonics claims that it promotes “relaxation, productivity, and focus.”
According to one alarming video posted on Instagram Reels, the drink has been spotted in gas stations, where it is more easily accessible to teenagers, who could use a fake ID, steal it, or in this case of this Instagram user’s experience, try to convince another adult to buy it for them.
The Instagram user @yourbestiemisha, called the incident “truly disturbing.” He guessed the child who approached him outside a gas station was around 14 years old. The Instagram user says the child asked him to buy him Feel Free, and when he was denied, attempted to steal his wallet.
In general, beverages that claim to provide the person consuming it an energy boost are dangerous for teenagers. But younger people are getting their hands on them. In 2023, America’s Poison Centers reported that it received more than 2,600 reports of people under 20 being exposed to energy beverages. These drinks are not recommended for kids and teens because of the sugar and caffeine they contain.
