JUST TOO TOO SAD –

Aug. 30, 2024 – “Into Light” is a collection of hand drawn portraits and stories of ordinary people who lost that battle.

Theresa Clower, lost her son to an opioid overdose after a ten year struggle. Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshal lost his wife to an addiction to prescribed opioids. “Well, they are all people who have been loved. They are all part of families. They are giving, caring, talented individuals who also has a drug addiction.”

“It’s an ugly disease. In many ways it steals the soul and heart of people. I didn’t recognize my own son when he was in the middle of his active period. It takes over a life. So it’s hard to see the human side of people. I understand that. But everyone deserves to be recognized and helped and- compassion. We need compassion to work with them.” “No one chooses this. It is a disease. And there is medically assisted treatment. People need to understand there are ways, like any disease, that there is treatment for this. But if you’re to ashamed, or if you’re shunned, the stigma gets in the way of asking for help.
