Robert Downey Jr. “Iron Man Pressure is Nothing Compared to Drug Addiction” VIDEO

Robert Downey Jr will be reprising his role as Iron Man for the sixth time in Captain America: Civil War and he can feel the pressure. “Jesus Christ, you’re right. I should flip the f*** out right now, shouldn’t I?” he told news.com.au from West Hollywood. “Everybody rises from the ashes many times in a lifetime and at the end of the day, pressure is just pressure,” he added. “If I’m thinking in any morose way about yesterday, I’m just inviting a depressive attitude. If I’m concentrating on the things that are ahead of me that I have to do or what’s expected of me, I’m just going to be anxious … The Iron Man actor further spoke on his recovery from drug addiction and said “It was only a couple of clicks back I was wondering how I was going to pay my rent or if I’d ever be in a functional relationship.”

SNL: Addiction Is No Laughing Matter VIDEO
While scrolling through channels, Julia Louis-Dreyfus‘ face popped up on our screen during her opening monologue, as she was hosting Saturday Night Live My husband and I both love her, so we stopped to watch. After her monologue, the show cut to their first skit of the night, a pre-recorded segment that was a mock advertisement for a product called “Heroin AM:” “For people who want to do heroin, but also be productive, there’s Heroin AM.”

Chantix to the Rescue
Sugar Addiction Is Like Any Other Drug Addiction
Sugar consumption makes our brains produce more dopamine, which is a characteristic it shares with other addictive drugs. Dopamine controls the brain’s reward centers, which is why we crave these drugs…And it’s not just sugar that affects us like this. Artificial sweeteners could produce effects similar to those we obtained with table sugar.”

Office Worker Admits Her Addiction to Having SEX 10 Times a Day Has Cost Her a Job VIDEO
She developed the problem in her early 20s after a break-up with a long term partner, and ended up travelling all over the country for casual rendezvous with both men and women. It led to her failing to turn up to work and her life ‘spiraled out of control’, sleeping with regular ‘friends with benefits’ and complete strangers … Miss Walton said a life-changing moment came in 2010 when she woke up hundreds of miles away from home and she realized she had a genuine problem and was not just ‘on the rebound’. She soon lost her job and went to see her doctor about the issue, but was only prescribed anti-anxiety medication…

Not the LA-Type Implants
‘Ladies who lunch’ Get Medical Implants to Beat Cravings for Wine
Middle- aged Irish women, enslaved to nightly bottles of wine, are being treated for alcoholism with surgical implants that have traditionally been administered to heroin users … The implant, containing a drug called Naltrexone, lasts for three months and is administered during a 15-minute procedure under a local anaesthetic at a cost of €1,150. Dr Hugh Gallagher, a HSE GP co-ordinator in addiction service and head of the One Step Clinic, has said that the implants are being used by women in their 30s, 40s and 50s, who are the new major drug-dependency problem in Ireland.

The Nature of Addiction
Fatal overdose in sober home troubles family, service providers
Joshua Lumbert died March 23, less than 2 miles from his family’s home. His overdose occurred during a rash of fatal overdoses, leading his mother to believe deadly fentanyl had been in the local heroin supply. But her son did not die in a flop house, a car or a public bathroom. He died while staying in a sober home called Vidal House. Just a few days earlier, Lumbert, 32, paid $180 for his first week at what was supposed to a safe environment devoid of drugs and alcohol, with mandatory drug testing…

Addiction?
Researchers Discover What Makes Some  Drug Addicts More Likely to Relapse Than Others
Chronic pain is undoubtedly debilitating, but the core of the problem stems from the fact that the pain medications are highly addictive. The most common treatment for those with opioid addiction is methadone, but relapse is common, with nearly half of the patients (46 percent) continuing to use opioids after the methadone treatment. “Since opioid disorder is chronic, remitting and relapsing, we wanted to find those factors that led to longer abstinence from illicit opioids,” said Leen Naji, a student at the School of Medicine and first author of the paper…

State to UCSD: Help Find Ways To Detect Stoned Drivers
They can administer a field sobriety test, which requires drivers to perform certain physical and mental tasks including standing on one leg and counting backward. That evaluation method has proven to be very useful in identifying people who have been drinking alcohol, but scientists said it doesn’t always reveal whether a person is high on pot.

Johnny Manziel and Friends Trash $4.5M House, do $32K in Damages VIDEO
Manziel desperately needs to get his life in order, at least according to those close to him, and that probably wasn’t going to happen in L.A. The New York Post’s Emily Smith reports that Manziel and a friend rented a house in West Hollywood last week, promptly threw “two all-night ragers” and when it was over, “allegedly caused $32,000 in damage” to the $4.5 million property. Then there’s this: It’s claimed Manziel and his group left the house strewn with booze and drugs, broke an expensive glass table and a bathroom door, and left wine stains and cigarette burns on carpets.

Mass. Mother Earns Praise for Death Notice Bluntness
A Massachusetts mother’s blunt yet heartfelt tribute after her daughter died from a heroin overdose is spreading around the world via social media and earning praise for its brutal honesty. Kathleen Errico found her daughter, 23-year-old Kelsey Endicott, dead in her bed on April 2. She had been clean for 10 months. Instead of dealing in euphemisms in the death notice, the Haverhill woman came right out and said her daughter “passed away from an accidental overdose.”

Liberation Essay by Allison Rose Phelan
The Post-It Plan that Ended my Cycle of Abuse & Helped me Find Safe Love
When we feel like we need love from people outside of us, we give ourselves permission to cry and fight about being mistreated. But at the end of the day, we put up with what we think we need and continue to take what we can get. We enable our situation to continue, rather than creating an inter-dependent exchange of love. We have the power to create a new story. We must not allow ourselves to offer anything but pure love to our partners and we must not accept anything less. When we gather our love from the source, the universe, we realize we are already loved.

Not A Pretty Picture
Ken Dixon: The Faces of Addiction
If you don’t think prescription narcotics and heroin are killing 700 a year in Connecticut, start paying attention to the death notices in the newspaper. I look at the pictures of those 20-somethings, 30-somethings, 40-somethings who die “suddenly” and I wonder whether they expired from overdoses. It’s a rare family that admits their loved one died from an addiction, but I see that more and more in the newspapers’ death notices. Bravo, for telling it like it is, because if one addict can see the dead end of eternity waiting to greet their excesses, maybe there’s a life to be saved there.

My Ex and I Were Alcoholics, Now I’m a Proud Single Mom

At one of these meetings, I befriended two wonderful women who became like family, inviting my daughters and me to holiday dinners in homes where laughter took place. With support like that in our lives, I knew I had to stay sober for the sake of my daughter. I signed up for a graduate course, then another, and before long, I was accumulating credits for a graduate degree … Before long, the incessant crying slowed down, as all these things were helping me to heal. Four years after getting sober and separated, I earned my Master’s degree and my career blossomed. Somehow, in time, we learn to cope and heal, one blessed moment at a time.

He talked about the progression of the disease of addiction and detailed the adolescent’s experience when using drugs and alcohol in an addictive way…There were many questions about what can be done about the drug epidemic in the area. MATTERS OF FAITH: Drug addition may come from a need to bond
“If God is not at the center of this drug and alcohol overdose issue, all our efforts are going to be in vain. I will challenge the church as a whole to stop being relativistic and get involved. Our law enforcement agencies are doing the best they can in addressing this issue, sometimes arresting the drug users, who in many cases, are the victims. It is time to engage with our drug addicts differently by addressing the bonding and belonging need, because what we have been doing for years now is not working. God bless.”

Staying Healthy Ain’t Easy
Ex-Trainer Says Pablo Sandoval Needs ‘Babysitter’, Compares Eating Problem To Alcoholism
Banning loves Sandoval so much, he compared his eating problem to an addiction on par with alcoholism. “I care about him greatly,” he said. “But it’s a tough love. He needs to be smart enough to say there’s a problem. It’s like the alcoholic that won’t admit he’s an alcoholic: well, you can’t address that you’re an alcoholic if you don’t ever admit there’s a problem. He’s got to address that.”

Time Will Tell
Can We Prevent Addiction Using Vaccines?
…We have tried to circumvent these issues by genetically modifying the liver of mice to produce and secrete sufficient quantities of antiaddictive monoclonal antibodies, but that work is still in its early stages. If successful, though, addiction vaccines would be a valuable aid to help addicts quit.

Four Dead in Ohio…
Fight to curb heroin addiction at center of Ohio Senate race
Combating a raging national heroin epidemic seems to be one issue where Republicans and Democrats find agreement. They agree it’s bad and more needs to be done. But in what’s shaping up to be a tight U.S. Senate race this fall between incumbent Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, and former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, some partisan distinctions are creeping into the vexing issue and how to fix the scourge of unintentional overdose deaths that claimed more than 47,000 American lives in 2014 – more than die in car accidents or by gunshots.
