Official Response from the
Recovery Centers of America

The Boston Globe article contains unsubstantiated allegations that included information in violation of several laws, such as: Confidentiality of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Patient Records (42 C.F.R, Part 2), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and related regulations, as well as the MA patient bill of rights. These claims could not be further from the truth, as evidenced by the reviews from state regulatory agencies, our Joint Commission Accreditation, and the more than 200 patients, families and referral sources who recently provided the Globe with letters in support of the work that we do to treat addiction. Unfortunately, the Globe chose not to include in their coverage these letters and the overwhelming praise that they contained.

RCA is 100 percent committed to our patients and their paths to recovery. At the very core of our facilities and mission is a steadfast dedication to the highest standards and regulations, and the care and safety of every individual we treat and employ.

All of our medical professionals utilize a combination of the latest evidence-based practices and the rigorous 12-Step program as the foundation for treating our patients. We take pride in delivering a five-star patient experience focused on treating each patient in a dignified manner so that we can and open their hearts and minds to life beyond addiction.”
