Jan. 22, 2026 – A mother of one of the children who participated in the so-called “challenge” is sharing her story while warning others about what turned into a scary situation.

According to the Ohio mother, who wanted to remain anonymous, the social media trend encourages kids to take large amounts of Benadryl to induce hallucinations.

“She was grabbing at things that weren’t there. She was seeing things, she was hallucinating,” the mother said about her daughter’s behavior. Bowling Green police responded Monday to Gypsy Lane Estates for a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old who reportedly overdosed on Benadryl.

The mother said she went to check on the girls that morning after a sleepover and that was when she knew something was off, so she called 911.

“She wasn’t able to really talk at this point; it was all gibberish. Then she started to get really weak and fall backward; she wasn’t able to stand,” the mother said.

The two children were taken to the hospital and were later released.
