MOTHER’S DAY EVERY DAY –
Sept. 10, 2025 – Since then, she has amassed over 400,000 followers on TikTok, sharing her sobriety journey from the early days of recovery to now.
“I quit 10 days before my son turned five,” said Garner. “I had been consciously thinking about it for a while, and I kept thinking to myself that my earliest childhood memories are at five.” “I don’t want him to remember me like this. I don’t want to keep putting him through this. I want him to have a mom that’s there.” Garner says the transition from addiction to sobriety has involved more than stopping the substance.
“You lose people in sobriety. You’re supposed to change people, places, and things, and I had to completely change my life,” says Garner.
Garner says many people, including herself, can feel isolated in their sobriety.
That is why she says she decided to start documenting her journey for herself on TikTok. After posting her first video on July 4, 2024, Garner decided to keep going, and in the process, she continued to gain followers.
“I’m so thankful because there were days in sobriety where I wasn’t really sure I was going to stick this out, but that’s when I would make a video,” said Garner.
Garner says she lets people see the hard parts of recovery that often aren’t talked about.
“Life happens. Life doesn’t stop because you get sober. To come to that realization and learn to accept that, and know that you’ve lost your coping mechanism, you have to find a new one,” said Garner.
