VIDEO – ALL HEROES –
Jan. 17, 2026 – (Brent Nowak, a representative from Shine A Light) Eighty individuals celebrated a significant milestone in Las Vegas as they graduated from the Shine A Light organization’s 18-month IPATH program, designed to help those facing homelessness and addiction rebuild their lives. Calane Brandon, a mother and member of the Las Vegas indigenous community, shared her journey from homelessness and addiction to becoming a house manager and sponsor for others at Shine A Light.”I didn’t think I would be here, to be honest,” she said.
Brandon recalled her time living in Topanga Park, feeling alone and hopeless, until volunteers from Shine A Light intervened. “I was homeless. I felt alone, I was lonely, so it wasn’t good,” she said.
Brent Nowak, a representative from Shine A Light, emphasized the organization’s commitment to meeting people where they are and offering support. “Our volunteers go out into the community, they go underground into the flood channels, through the homeless encampments, down the railroad tracks, wherever anyone who’s unhoused might be living, and we connect with them,” he said.
Ladarius Burnett, 27, celebrated two years of sobriety and is preparing to start work as an electrician after completing the program.
