But in the case of Johnny Manziel, it seems like his journey to sobriety has moved him past the days of giving “canned answers” to thoughtful candor. Johnny Football is starting to air the NFL’s dirty laundry, and it’s making some folks uncomfortable … Manziel’s comments about the Browns came on the heels of some other poignant ones that managed to grab headlines last month when he tweeted his support of Colin Kaepernick and spoke on something we should all know by now: that the reasons he’s not being signed have zero to do with football. “This will probably cause an uproar, but I’m tired of the @Kaepernick7 v myself comparisons and anger,” Manziel tweeted. “Kap is doing amazing things right now changing lives and donating millions of dollars. His impact off the field from a societal standpoint is legendary and straight admirable.”
