Jenner Anderson: Person of the Week

Jenner Anderson is from the Bay Area and went to school at University of California, Santa Cruz, majoring in Sociology. She has a passion for entertainment, and moved to Los Angeles to pursue this dream. She has worked on the campaigns for Joker: Folie a Deux, Minecraft, Blue Beetle, and The Iron Claw as an Associate Producer. She is the middle sibling of two sisters, and has a wonderful family. Her two cats, Tigger and Thumper, began as foster cats until she ultimately decided to adopt them. She enjoys cooking, playing tennis, watching movies, going to concerts, and spending time with friends.

Q. If you are in recovery, what was your drug(s) of choice and when is your sobriety date?

A. 3.14.25 — Alcohol, cocaine, marijuana.

Q. Is there anything special in your sobriety toolkit that helps keep you sober?

A. Going to meetings, making friends in the rooms, having a sponsor, telling my family, being held accountable.

Q. Do you think addiction is an illness, disease, a choice, or a wicked twist of fate?

A. A little bit of all of these.

Q. Where are you from and where do you reside now?

A. I am from Santa Rosa, CA and I live in Los Angeles.

Q. What is one word you would use to describe yourself?

A. Curious.

Q. How do you measure success?

A. When your job doesn’t feel like work.

Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?

A. Bad drivers.

Q. If you had an extra million dollars, which charity would you donate it to?

A. I would split it between Much Love Animal Rescue + Nine Lives Animal Rescue.

Q. What major event or realization shaped who you are?

A. Losing my job and getting sober.

Q. What do you love most about living sober?

A. I love that I can wake up every day feeling good about myself and know that I will have productive day and be authentically myself. I don’t miss those days waking up hating myself, feeling like I’ll never change.

Q. What’s your concept of a Higher Power?

A. My higher power is the Universe. I have always felt the presence of the Universe, as I’ve seen many miracles in my life, even in my addiction.

A. Cancer.

A. Everyone says this, but Jamie Lee Curtis!

A. Tonight at 10: Kicking Booze and Breaking News by Courtney Friel.

A. Wes Anderson.

A. Hacks.

A. The weather app.

Q. Who is your favorite performer, living or dead?

A. Lady Gaga.

A. Anything by The Beach Boys.

A. Los Angeles.

A. Tame Impala at Coachella in 2019.

A. My cats.

A. Honesty.

Q. What do you consider your greatest achievement?

A. Making a life for myself alone in Los Angeles.

A. That I’m funny, because it takes an advanced sense of humor, I don’t expect everyone to

understand.

Q. What is the greatest risk you’ve ever taken?

A. Moving to LA when I was 18.

Q. What is something you’ve learned about yourself in the last six months?

A. That I’m not as quiet or shy as I thought I was.

Q. What do you love most about yourself?

A. As my sister says, my “grit.”

Q. What do you like most about 12-step meetings?

A. Listening to the stories of other people, especially ones I can relate to. It makes me feel less alone.

Q. When did you realize you were a grown-up?

A. Once I became sober!

Q. How important are your pets to you?

A. My cats (Tigger and Thumper) are my children.
