Q. If you are in recovery, what was your drug(s) of choice and when is your sobriety date?

A. Heroin – 5/27/2007.

Q. Is there anything special in your sobriety toolkit that helps keep you sober?

A. The life I have built because of recovery! That keeps me going.

Q. What is one word you would use to describe yourself?

A. Authentic.

Q. If you ever retire, would you prefer to live by the ocean, lake, river, mountaintop, desert, or penthouse?

A. Totally, the ocean. It is my sanctuary.

Q. How do you measure success?

A. Success is achieving a life that you feel you deserve.  It isn’t money or things, it is waking up every day grateful for what you have and honoring the work you have done to get there.

Q. What is your biggest pet peeve?

A. Slow drivers – working on this……

Q. If you had an extra million dollars, which charity would you donate it to?

A. The McShin Foundation, obvi.

Q. Who has been the biggest influence throughout your life?

A. I don’t have 1 person, I have a ton. But, I would have to say myself. I am with myself more than anyone, so I have to be kind to me and motivate me.

Q. What major event or realization shaped who you are?

A. Walking through The McShin Foundation’s doors in 2007.

Q. What do you love most about living sober?

A. Having fun, remembering things I do, and being a mom to my kids/wife to my husband.

Q. Which part of your treatment and recovery do you feel was the most interesting or unexpected?

A. I didn’t expect to live this long let alone live a life in recovery for over 18 years now. That peer to peer connection saved my life.

Q. What’s your concept of a Higher Power?

A. I believe in God, Spirit, and Universe. I am currently learning more about Shamanism at the moment. I am open to learning and loving.

Q. What is your Astrological sign?

A. Libra.

Q. Who is your favorite celebrity in recovery?

A. Ryan Hampton :).

Q. What books are you reading now?

A. Strong Ground by Brene Brown.

Q. If you were giving a dinner party for your 3 favorite authors, living or dead, who would they be?

A. Danny Pellegrino – Books are so funny and I just love him.
Arnold Schwarzenegger – “Be Useful” is EVERYTHING…..
Stephenie Meyer – Twilight series author, who doesn’t want to learn more about vampires?

Q. Which film have you watched the most?

A. It would be a tie with “Elf” and “Jurassic Park.”

Q. What book would you most like to see turned into a movie or TV show that hasn’t already been adapted?

A. My book, “Scattered Pink.”

Q. Are you binge watching any TV series?

A. Totally, I binge Schitt’s Creek all the time!!

Q. Who is your favorite performer, living or dead?

A. Bob Marley.

Q. Who are your heroes in real life?

A. Anyone that ethically helps those with substance use disorder.

Q. What are some of the most memorable songs in your life?

A. One Love – Bob Marley – Really anything Bob.

Q. What is the best concert/performance/play you’ve ever attended?

A. Tyler Childers with my husband and kids. It was my son’s first concert!

Q. What are five things you always carry with you?

A. 4 leaf clover, a poem my husband gave me, water bottle, protein snack, and lucky pennies I
found.

Q. What is the best piece of advice you’ve given someone else?

A. Don’t give up on yourself EVER!

Q. What is your most treasured possession?

A. My dogs.

Q. What do you value most in a friendship?

A. Authenticity.

Q. What do you consider your greatest achievement?

A. Being a real-model for my children.

Q. What is your favorite compliment to receive, and why?

A. That I am a good female leader because it has taken me years to get where I am and I am very proud of the woman I have become.

Q. Where do you go when you’re seeking solitude?

A. The ocean if I can. If not, just on a walk in my neighborhood listening to a good podcast.

Q. What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?

A. Coffee, coloring, exercise, massage, reading a book at the ocean, snuggling with my dogs, dinner with my family, and watching Schitt’s Creek in bed.

Q. What is your biggest regret?

A. All the negative things I did to my daughter while addicted to heroin.

Q. What is the greatest risk you’ve ever taken?

A. Starting my side hustle coaching business is the most recent. Not really a risk, more like betting on myself.

Q. What is something you are currently curious about?

A. Shamanism.

Q. What do you love most about yourself?

A. How strong I am on all levels: spiritual, physical, emotional, mental.  My word of the year is STRONG!

Q. What is your greatest extravagance?

A. I just bought my first brand new car ever……

Q. How important are your pets to you?

A. Beyond important, my dogs are my best friends, we talk to each other!

Q. Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

A. That’s my jam, you rock, recovery rocks…and I am going to keep using them!
