MEMORY MATTERS –
June 13, 2025 – “Today marks 3 years since my last drink,” McBryde writes. “My last time being ‘that guy’ in my social and professional circles. The last panicked phone call for help. The final slip up that caused the intervention from those that love me and the shift in me allowing me to say ‘that’s enough.’ The details are known by those who are deserving of such painful information.”
“1,000 days, 1,000 moons,” McBryde writes. “ 1,000 hangovers skipped, 1,000 drunk ‘I’m sorrys’ I didn’t have to say …I see the woman I am now and the woman I am on my way to being,” she adds. “And I have love and compassion for the woman I was and I care for her daily.”
McBryde also offers encouragement for others battling addiction.
“Wherever you are in your journey, day 1, day 0 … Day 400 or day zero again for the 10th time, it is worth it,” she maintains. “Every day is a milestone. Every version of you was necessary to be who you are now. So love them.”
