Jan. 12, 2026 – Nearly half of Americans admit they feel addicted to their cell phones, according to a survey from Reviews.org.
The survey found that 43% of Americans acknowledge phone addiction, with users checking their devices an average of 186 times daily.
“Sometimes I feel my phone vibrating and I don’t even have a text message.” Kendall suggests several strategies for healthier digital habits, including scheduling tech-free time during the day and establishing device-free zones in homes.
For people who rely on phones for work, Kendall emphasizes maintaining balance by reducing nonessential phone use.
“I’m an iPhone user, so I can turn on do not disturb or focus mode where those notifications aren’t coming in when I need to be working or I need to be completing a task,” she explained. “So it’s really taking your device and using it to its full capability besides just calling and texting and social media. There are other apps and tools on your phone to help you manage how much screen time you’re having.”
