Aug. 8, 2024 – This approach of broadening access has worked elsewhere. In the ’80s and ’90s, France pushed this treatment to address its heroin crisis and saw overdose deaths drop by 79 percent in four years. The U.S. effort has fallen flat. By the end of 2023, the total number of patients on this livesaving medication hardly changed. Why?
