Nov. 10, 2021 – At Manchester Crown Court, Ramsden was sentenced to 16 months as the judge told her a spell in jail might help her get clean and reconnect with her family.
The court heard how she had developed her drug addiction during her relationship with her children’s father.
During Christmas 2018, the couple were about to find themselves homeless but were offered food and shelter by his elderly mother, whose bank and post office accounts they then drained to feed their drug habits. Prosecutor Miss Claire Brocklebank said: “On October 5 2021, at 3pm a PC on patrol on his police motorbike saw the defendant come on the wrong side of the road and overtake a car into his path.
“He was forced to brake sharply to avoid a collision and as a result turned his bike around and a pursuit occurred for around 10 minutes.
“The defendant was seen trying to overtake another car coming from the wrong side of the road. The officer has turned around and followed her.
“The chase occurred on residential roads and involves the defendant driving down a dual carriageway on the wrong side of the road.
