He is a bridge … Stories from a record-breaking year of loss. Between mid-November and mid-December, 70 people died of drug overdoses. An additional 10 deaths in those 30 days were suspected overdoses awaiting testing. Those are staggering numbers to begin with — but here they represent a brief respite from the spring and summer, when nearly 100 people were dying from opioid overdoses each month.
