Aug. 2, 2022 – For over 17 years, I not only struggled with an active substance abuse disorder, but a mental health disorder as well. If there is something I would like for you to get out of reading this, it is that there is hope and recovery is possible! Not only is recovery possible, but it is a very beautiful thing and so very worth it. I will not sugarcoat this for anyone because having a substance abuse disorder is hard and it will be a fight for the rest of our lives. Whether you want to believe it or not, this is a disease. This will be the hardest fight you will ever have to do in your entire life. It does not end once you put that drug or drink down and it does not end when you graduate rehab or drug and alcohol outpatient treatment. What I am trying to say is that it will absolutely be hard, but at the same time, it will absolutely be worth it!
