Pour Me: A Life by AA Gill review – from drunk to doyen of Fleet Street He shares with James a delight in his own similes; they are produced one after the other as if spotlit and accompanied by canned laughter. A hirsute life model, meanwhile, gets this unspooling sentence: “His tight, drooping goat udder stomach hung over a dark, concertinaed penis, that crouched like a bald squab in a pubic nest, perched precariously on an immense scrotum like a drop of furry creosote caught in its infinitesimal descent to his knees.” | | Sad Way to Go – Aren’t They All
