Jewish Man Befriended Nazis in Jail During Addiction Battle

July 13, 2024 – Jared Klickstein wanted to go to jail. After years of experiencing homelessness and suffering from addiction, he says he thought time in a cage would help him kick his physical dependence on heroin. He says the first person he met behind bars was a man with a swastika tattoo on his face.  It was then, Klickstein says, he thought his Jewish heritage might be a problem. It’s one of many awkward situations he details in his new book “Crooked Smile.”
