Jessica Simpson admits she has ‘not thought about alcohol’ during Covid

March 25, 2021 – The talk show host, 50, asked the fashion designer what it was like ‘staying sober’ during this ‘challenging year.’

Jessica hasn’t had a drink since she first went sober over three years ago, and didn’t allow the stress of 2020 to get in the way of her journey. The star revealed she could not do it without having her 41-year-old husband Eric Johnson by her side: ‘Eric and I, both, we look at each other, like, we could not have drank through this.’

Simpson is currently promoting the paperback release of her best-selling 2020 memoir, Open Book. In the book, she described hitting rock bottom after a Halloween party at the couple’s home in late 2017 when she told friends: ‘I need to stop. Something’s got to stop. And if it’s the alcohol that’s doing this, and making things worse, then I quit.’

Her former NFL player husband joined her in giving up alcohol to act as a pillar of support as she entered a new chapter of her life.

‘Eric gave up drinking the second I did. He said, “I’ll do it with you, babe.” It was like no biggie and he hasn’t gone back or looked back,’ she told People in 2020.

‘It’s just the way he is. He’s a very selfless and loving person who is the most incredible father on the planet.’
