Increase in alcohol-related deaths in U.S. is jarring

But, “there are a remarkable number of people who drink a couple of six packs a day, or a pint of whiskey.” According to NIAAA, there are an estimated 16 million people in the United States who have Alcohol Use Disorder: a chronic relapsing brain disease characterized by compulsive alcohol use, loss of control over alcohol intake and a negative emotional state when not using.
