Sept. 9, 2022 – The admission came during an ESPN Friday Night Fights post-fight press conference in Verona, New York. Tyson, in detail, talks about sobriety and how he longed to be forgiven. ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ had then said, “I want to live my sober life. I don’t want to die. I’m on the verge of dying, because I’m a vicious alcoholic” For someone like Tyson, who was once so abysmally addicted to alcohol and drugs, staying away from either alcohol and substances was nothing short of a miracle. Although Tyson felt he was close to his death, he could hardly stop himself from consuming alcohol and drugs. At this, Tyson once stayed away from alcohol for six days. Overwhelmed by his own achievement, he had said: “I haven’t drank or took drugs in six days, and for me that’s a miracle. I’ve been lying to everybody that thinks I was sober, but I’m not. This is my sixth day. I’m never going to use again.”
