May 17, 2018 – Reflecting on his sobriety, Boy George said: ‘Obviously when you’re in it, it’s only when you get quality clean time, as you know, you go “oh wow, how did I do that? How the f**k did I do ten years?.”
The Culture Club star added: ‘But I would say everything good in my life is because I’m clean and I’m able to really enjoy what I do in a way I couldn’t before.’ Ash told Boy George that he’s looked up to him for years … I’m a recovering addict. I’m three years sober this year. It’s been a huge struggle for me,’ Ash said. ‘I’ve looked to people who have chalked up sobriety when I’ve been hopeless and without hope, and I know what that feels like, and you’re someone that I went “wow, you’ve got through and created a life of sobriety and cleanliness now for a number of years.” Afterwards, Ash shared a snap of himself with Boy George to Instagram, writing: ‘Just had the pleasure of interviewing this legend. Ten years clean and sober and loving life!! Thanks.’ On The Voice in April, Boy George said he was coming up to ten years of sobriety, after contestant Colin Lillie revealed his own past addiction.
