May 4, 2018 – Marriage is a difficult journey for any couple, but when you throw in homelessness, drug addiction, and child protective services in the mix; the breaking point is closer than you think. Like most fairytales, this couple’s beginning started out pretty rough. “We were addicted to meth, but we’ll be clean for 20 months this month,” Ashley Lee said. With a few plot twists and bumps in the road. “We were told we had 24 hours to vacate where we were living, we were living in a trailer in Henderson with no electricity or water,” Lee said. Ashley and Dustin Lee moved into the Highway 80 Rescue Mission Shelter after they hit rock bottom.

The Lee’s were married a year later, in the Mission’s church. 20 months clean after a life long battle with meth addiction, Ashley, with her newly acquired high school diploma, and Dustin with a faith driven heart. “My buddy Robert Hall helped me say a prayer to ask god in my life and it was probably one of the smartest decisions I have ever made,” Dustin Lee says. Child protective services removed their children after the drugs took hold. Ultimately, the future is uncertain, but now, they’re able to contact their three kids any time they want, along with once-a-month visits.
