Highs and lows: Drug addiction takes its toll mentally, physically

Nov. 2, 2018 – It’s the chemical addiction most people don’t see happening when they encounter an addict; the process that drives addicts to abandon friends, family, jobs, and children to get high. It’s important to understand because when people understand the chemical demolition that opioids do in the addict’s brain, society can better address what addicts need to get better.
