Grad hopes to help others through book about addiction

Nov. 18, 2018 – “I want to change the way people look at addiction,” Petersen said. “I hope it can reach people in a way that it opens up their hearts so they don’t see addiction so negatively.” The book is dedicated to her grandfather Larry Petersen, one of her best friends who died from an overdose and her brother who is currently in treatment for addiction. Petersen and her two older brothers were raised in Longview by their single mother. She said her brother Jyles began using drugs about 10 years ago, when she was 17 and he was 19.
