David Brian Green is a UK citizen (from Nottingham, England) who has been a permanent resident of Canada since 1998, currently based in Victoria BC on Vancouver Island. He is a widely respected international healthcare management consultant. David has enjoyed a 30+ year career in the private healthcare sector, in International Health Insurance underwriting, Healthcare Management & Provider delivery in major medical & addiction recovery service lines, operating on most continents. Q. If you are in recovery, what was your drug of choice? When did you stop using?
A. I am not in recovery. (Though many of the people I am fortunate to work with are.)

Q. Do you think addiction is an illness, disease, a choice, or a wicked twist of fate?
A. I think it is a wicked combination of all four.

Q. Where did you grow up?
A. A small English coal mining village in North Nottinghamshire, England.

Q. From what school or teacher did you learn the most?
A. I learned and am learning more in the aftermath of completing my formal education than I ever learned in my formative years. This is my view of education, something I share with the late Robert B. Parker who I think had it spot-on; “Being an educator and working are not the same thing. The academic community is composed largely of nitwits. If I may generalize. People who don’t know very much about what matters very much, who view life through literature rather than the other way around.” “There can never be any substitute for your own palate nor any better education than tasting life yourself.” – Robert B. Q. If you had an extra million dollars, which charity would you donate it to?
A. I would not give to any established charity. I would look for children in need of care with a variety of conditions and help them get access to treatment. One thing Covid has proved is that the governments of the world have enough reserves to pay for most all the conditions that children and people suffer from. They just choose not to.

Q. Do you have any children?
A. Seven (Five boys and two girls) and seven grandchildren so far.

Q. If, and when you retire would you prefer to live by the ocean, lake, river, mountaintop or penthouse?
A. I doubt I will ever formally retire. But it would be to a penthouse or a white stucco building with a rooftop terrace overlooking the ocean.

Q. What is your favorite hotel or resort?
A. Since 1986, I have spent my life in hotels in almost 80 countries. If I had to choose, then it would be The Scribe in Paris or The Negresco in Nice and the Bab al Shams Resort in Dubai.

Q. What is your biggest or littlest pet peeve?
A. Biggest: Wasting Time. It is the one commodity that we are all limited by, and yet we waste it so easily and value it so lightly. I am also not a fan of cancel culture. Littlest: Lack of punctuality and disrespect due to faster communications and/or the ignorance of youth. I also miss business formal attire and expectation.

A. My Wife of 38 years.

Q. Are you more inclined to believe in UFO’s or life after death, or both?
A. I believe in both. I cannot believe that we are the only life-form in the universe or that we are the most intelligent. Therefore, there must have been and are UFOs and visitors. I believe and hope that there is life after death, as I want to be back again, so that I can share another lifetime with my wife.

A. I do not have one. I watch the developing news in all electronic forms almost by the minute. Mostly via BBC World news.
