Emory, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation form ‘Addiction Alliance’

Solution Based –

February 7, 2020  – “I was ready to give up. I just wanted to die. My family, my employer – CNN and Tom Johnson, refused to give up on me,” Moyers said. “This community saved me.” Several people in the room provided their own testimonials, heart-wrenching stories of family members they had lost to addiction and other inspirational stories from people who had overcome their addiction and went on to live successful lives.

With the institutions signing a letter of intent, now they will work to finalize their partnership and seek financial support. “We are on the cusp of something really great,” said Kevin Clark, executive administrator of Emory’s Brain Health Center.

The other speakers included Jon Lewin, Emory’s executive vice present for health affairs; Mark Rapaport, Emory’s chair of psychiatry and behavioral sciences; Mark Mishek, CEO of Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation; Justine Welch, Emory Healthcare’s director of addiction services; among others.
