A recent study at the South Carolina Medical College (MUSC) Gastroenterological Disease Research Core Center (DDRCC) found that doctors need to be careful when using specific liver function tests to diagnose alcoholic cirrhosis. Provides insights about.

It is a progressive liver disease that occurs when chronic ethanol use causes inflammation, cirrhosis, or scarring of the liver. Early diagnosis is important because less than 50% of people diagnosed with advanced liver disease due to cirrhosis survive for one year.
