Doctor Prescribed Drugs with ‘reckless abandon’ Given 15-years

DISTRIBUTION DEAL WITH THE DEVIL –

Aug. 30, 2022 – The daughter of one of the five people whose deaths the government alleged were the result of Kraynak’s prescription practices gave emotional testimony about the impact of her loss.

The sentence also includes restitution totaling $22,365 to several of the victims or their families, three years of supervised release and a $2,000 fine. He may not have contact with any of the victims’ families.

Kraynak, who practiced as Keystone Family Medicine Associates in Mount Carmel and Shamokin until 2017, pleaded guilty last September to 12 counts of prescribing drugs outside the course of standard medical practice.

He did so after the government completed its case. As part of the plea agreement counts of dispensing oxycodone, hydrocodone and other drugs that resulted in five deaths were dismissed.
