Dec. 27, 2017 – The vans, she learned after tailing one, were ferrying addicts all over town to what amounted to halfway houses for those in recovery: sober living homes. “I followed those vans around for three months,” said Ms. Burk, a young mother of five whose sleuthing identified dozens of sober living homes in her city — including 15 within a block of her house. “Then I cried for a long time.” … To meet the demand, an armada of former addicts have become entrepreneurs, offering a new and cheaper version of rehab. That is what has swarmed Prescott — small, outpatient clinics that use an approach known as the Florida Model.
