Dec. 25, 2021 – It was founded in 2019 as a way of helping homeless people in Burnley by providing hot meal services and food distribution and food banks.
Since then, Church on the Street has grown into something bigger and now helps home-schooled children, supporting those suffering with bereavement as well as people who may be struggling with unexpected funeral arrangements. On 22 December, the ‘church with a difference’ held an event on the street, inviting people to pray and light a candle for a loved one that may have passed. Caz Pinter, the Outreach Lead at the church, said: “People love generosity and being kind to one another and they just want to be a part of it.”
Gill Conway, a local resident, was going through a tough time when her son was battling an alcohol addiction earlier this year. It got so severe that he was once admitted into A&E four times in 24 hours.
Gill Conway said: “Caz is worth her weight in gold.
“Just recently, I had about four months of utter despair, my son was going through a severe alcohol addiction and I didn’t know where to go.
“I just went down to the church one day and as soon as I spoke to Caz, I felt like a weight had been lifted and I could unload all of my worries.
